About Us
Since its inception in 1972, the Logan Circle Community Association has become one of the District’s premier civic and residential organizations serving thousands of neighbors, businesses, community organizations and government officials under its geographic purview. Our mission is simple: engage in charitable and educational activities designed to promote civic and social welfare. In an effort to enrich quality of life for local residents, the LCCA hosts monthly clean-up days, happy hours at local bars and restaurants (pre-Covid), children’s activities and special events. Additionally, the organization supports local elementary schools and fellow neighborhood groups through a range of impact-driven projects.
LCCA has been a prominent force leading the neighborhood’s revitalization over the last 50 years. After the riots devastated the area decades ago, LCCA led restoration efforts, helping the neighborhood heal and thrive into the safe and welcoming destination it is today. Notable undertakings have included helping to establish the 14th Street Historic District and coalescing neighbors and the District to address crime.
Similar to other organizations of its kind, LCCA has pivoted to navigate a post-Covid world, shifting to outdoor-centric activities and initiatives. One such example is the Let's Paint the Streets project, which engaged 16 artists, predominantly young emerging creatives, to transform 20 gray utility boxes across Logan Circle into vibrant public works of art. It was developed with grant support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Logan Circle Main Street, Radical Empathy, and ANC2F.
Committees
LCCA depends on its committees to generate innovative ideas and bring them to fruition. All are welcome to join LCCA committees and/or volunteer to help with special events and projects. Contact Us to express your interest in one of the committees listed below.
Beautification
The Beautification Committee organizes neighborhood clean-up days, an annual garden contest, and enriching events for children – such as painting birdhouses – and advocates to have more trees planted in our tree boxes. It also monitors the Let’s Paint the Streets art boxes and Heritage Trail markers to keep them graffiti-free.
Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee develops and executes LCCA’s annual plan to raise funds for activities and grants awarded to local schools and non-profit organizations. Fundraising activities include an annual holiday house tour (pre-Covid) , events, auctions, and media campaigns seeking donations.
Communications
The Communications Committee keeps LCCA connected with the neighborhood and vice versa through this website, Instagram, Facebook, and an engaging monthly newsletter. The team also strategizes new ways to share messages with the wider community.
Giving
The Giving Committee reviews grant applications submitted to LCCA , vets potential awardees, and makes recommendations for grant awards to the LCCA Board. The Committee ensures that each grant recipient disperses the funds adhering to defined parameters.
Arts and Culture
The Arts and Culture Committee seeks opportunities to enliven the neighborhood with public art and celebrate the community’s diverse set of voices.
